What Is Contract Supplement Manufacturing?
Contract supplement manufacturing is a production model where you own the formula and we operate the factory. Unlike private label - where a manufacturer offers pre-made formulas you brand as your own - contract manufacturing starts with your proprietary specification. You dictate the ingredients, dosages, delivery format, and packaging. We handle sourcing, production, quality testing, and logistics under documented GMP protocols. Your intellectual property remains yours. We are the production partner, not a co-owner.
This model is standard across the pharmaceutical and food industries and has become the dominant production structure for supplement brands selling on Amazon, in retail, and direct-to-consumer. The economics are straightforward: building and certifying your own FDA-registered facility costs $2–5 million and takes 12–18 months. Contracting with a certified manufacturer costs nothing upfront - you pay per unit, starting at quantities as low as 1,000 units, and production begins in weeks rather than years.
The critical variable is not cost - it's the quality infrastructure behind the production line. Any facility can fill a bottle. What separates a compliant contract manufacturer from a compliance liability is the testing protocol, the batch documentation, the regulatory registrations, and the third-party verification that protects your brand when a retailer, a marketplace, or a regulator asks to see the paperwork.

How Contract Manufacturing Works
Six documented stages from formula submission to finished goods delivery. Every stage produces auditable records.
Technical Review & Feasibility
Submit your formula or product specification. Our R&D team reviews ingredient availability, regulatory compliance for your target markets, manufacturing feasibility, and identifies process optimizations - without altering your intellectual property. You receive a detailed feasibility report within 5 business days.
Raw Material Sourcing & QC
We source every ingredient to your exact specification - including preferred suppliers, origin requirements, organic or non-GMO certifications, and specific grades. Every incoming raw material is quarantined, identity-tested using FTIR or HPLC, and released only after passing quality control. No material enters production without written QC release.
Pilot Batch & Your Approval
A small-scale pilot batch validates blend uniformity, fill weights, organoleptic properties (taste, color, texture), and short-term stability. Physical samples are shipped for your sign-off before full production begins. Adjustments are made at this stage, not after scale-up.
Full-Scale Production
Production runs on dedicated, calibrated equipment under documented batch records per 21 CFR Part 111. In-process checks at every stage - weighing, blending, encapsulation or molding, coating - with real-time deviation reporting. Any out-of-spec reading halts the line.
Quality Testing & COA
Every finished batch is tested in-house and by an independent ISO 17025 accredited laboratory for identity, potency, purity, heavy metals (Pb, As, Cd, Hg), and microbial (E. coli, Salmonella, yeast/mold). A full Certificate of Analysis is generated, reviewed by the Quality Unit, and retained for one year past shelf life.
Packaging & Delivery
Finished products are packaged per your specification - bottles, pouches, sachets, or bulk containers. Labeled, shrink-banded, and shipped to your warehouse, 3PL, or Amazon FBA prep center. Worldwide shipping with full lot traceability from raw material to final delivery.

Learn moreFrequently Asked Questions
The questions we hear most from brands evaluating contract manufacturing partners.
What is the difference between contract manufacturing and private label?
Contract manufacturing means you bring your own formula - we produce it under your specification. You own the intellectual property, control the ingredients, and dictate the process parameters. Private label means you select from our library of 500+ ready-made stock formulations and brand them as your own. Contract manufacturing is for brands that have already invested in R&D and need a production partner. Private label is for brands that want to launch quickly with proven, market-tested formulas without the upfront formulation cost.
What are the minimum order quantities for contract manufacturing?
Our standard contract manufacturing MOQ is 1,000 units for most delivery formats. This is higher than our private label MOQ (500 units) because contract runs require dedicated setup, ingredient sourcing to your specific specification, and pilot batch validation. For complex formulations with specialty ingredients, MOQs may be higher depending on raw material supplier minimums. We provide exact MOQ and pricing within 48 hours of receiving your formula.
Do I retain full ownership of my formula?
Yes. Under our standard contract manufacturing agreement, you retain 100% intellectual property ownership of your formula. We manufacture under your specification - we do not claim, patent, or resell your formulation. Your formula is protected by an NDA signed before any technical review begins, and we maintain strict information barriers between client projects.
What delivery formats can you manufacture?
We manufacture across five core delivery formats: gummy vitamins (pectin and gelatin-based, custom shapes and flavors), capsules and tablets (vegan HPMC, gelatin, compressed tablets, and softgels), powder blends (protein, collagen, superfood, functional - in tubs, pouches, or sachets), sachets and stick packs (single-serve with custom flavoring), and liquid drops and tinctures (sublingual drops, oils, and herbal tinctures in glass or plastic dropper bottles).
What is the typical lead time?
Standard lead time is 4–8 weeks from formula approval to finished goods ready for shipment. This includes: technical review and sourcing (1–2 weeks), pilot batch and your sign-off (1 week), full production (1–3 weeks depending on volume and format), quality testing and COA generation (3–5 business days), and packaging and shipping prep (2–3 business days). Complex formulations with specialty sourcing may extend the timeline.
Can you source raw materials to my specification?
Yes. We source to your exact specification - including preferred suppliers, origin requirements, organic or non-GMO certifications, and specific ingredient grades. Every incoming raw material is quarantined, identity-tested (FTIR/HPLC), and released only after passing QC. If you have existing supplier relationships, we can purchase directly from your nominated suppliers. Our procurement team has access to 3,000+ vetted ingredients worldwide.
How do you handle quality control?
A six-stage protocol: incoming raw material identity testing, in-process checks at every production stage, pre-packaging QA review, third-party verification by an independent ISO 17025 accredited lab, Quality Unit final release, and retained samples on stability monitoring. Every finished batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis documenting all test results. Both internal and third-party results must match before release.
Can you scale production as my brand grows?
Yes. Our facility is designed for scalable production - from initial runs of 1,000 units to ongoing production of 100,000+ units per month. Production scheduling, raw material procurement, and inventory management scale with your volume. Repeat orders benefit from stored batch records and validated processes, which shortens lead time and reduces per-unit costs at higher volumes.
Your Formula Deserves a Manufacturer You Can Trust
FDA-registered. cGMP. 7 certifications. Every batch dual-lab tested with a full Certificate of Analysis. 100% IP ownership. From 1,000 units to 100,000+ per month.
