Building a premium drops line around superior nutrient bioavailability
The founder built the brand around one stubborn problem: the body absorbs far less of a tablet or capsule than the label implies. Much of a hard, compressed dose never dissolves in time to be absorbed, so the brand was designed from day one to fix that by leading with liposomal liquid delivery instead of pills.
The problem was that the liquid supplements already on the market undercut the very promise the brand was selling. Off-the-shelf liquids separated within weeks, oxidized into a darker color and a metallic off-note, and leaned on harsh synthetic preservatives the founder refused to put on a clean label. Worse, dosing drifted: squeeze bottles and loose-fitting droppers delivered a different amount every time, which is unacceptable when the entire pitch is precision.
The brand needed a manufacturer who could do three hard things at once: build genuinely stable liposomes that survived shelf life without separating, make a fat-based liquid actually palatable straight off the dropper, and lock in an accurate per-dropper dose, all without the preservative shortcuts that would gut the clean positioning. Most contract manufacturers could pour a flavored liquid; almost none could engineer encapsulation, taste, dosing accuracy, and clean preservation together.
Build Your Own Brand started with the encapsulation itself. Our R&D team built liposomes from quality-sourced phospholipids and tuned particle size and loading so the actives stayed wrapped and suspended rather than crashing out, the difference between a liquid that looks identical at month one and month twelve and one that visibly separates. Each formula was engineered for a uniform, pourable consistency rather than a fragile emulsion.
In parallel we solved the two things that quietly kill a liquid supplement at home: taste and dose. Our flavor team layered natural flavor masking over the phospholipid base so the drops were genuinely pleasant taken straight or in water, not merely tolerable. We then specified calibrated precision dropper bottles and verified fill-to-mark accuracy on the line, so a single squeeze delivers the labeled serving consistently bottle after bottle.
For preservation, we used a clean system that protected the liposomes and held color and flavor stable without the synthetic preservatives the founder had ruled out, then put every formula through our full stability protocol. We validated separation resistance, oxidation, flavor, color, and per-dropper dose across accelerated and real-time conditions before release, and packaged the documentation so the brand could substantiate its absorption claims to discerning buyers.
The line launched in 12 weeks with three liposomal SKUs, and the difference customers could see in the bottle did the selling: no separation, no metallic off-note, and a clean dropper dose every time. Internal absorption modeling and comparative testing put the liposomal liquids at roughly 4.8x the bioavailability of an equivalent tablet, the headline the brand had been built to claim and could now substantiate.
The premium delivery commanded a premium price. The brand held a 62% gross margin on the liquid line, well above what its old tablet offering supported, while a 72% reorder rate signaled that customers felt the difference rather than buying once on a claim. Liquid drops, it turned out, were both the most defensible product and the most profitable.
That defensibility, not a marketing push, became the brand's growth engine: a visible, testable bioavailability advantage that competitors pouring generic flavored liquids could not match, sold at a margin that funded its own expansion. The substantiated absorption story and clean label also earned uptake across roughly 310 clinics and practitioner offices in the first two quarters, and the line is now expanding into additional single-nutrient and combination liposomal drops on the same platform.
